Yours is different from everyone else’s, and it’s a more specific way of identifying where a package that’s addressed to you is meant to go. Your account number, however, is like your room number in the hotel. The routing number is like the address of the hotel, so it’s the same for all the guests staying at that particular hotel. To understand the difference between a routing number and an account number, think of a hotel where your money is staying. What’s the Difference Between an Account Number and a Routing Number? While security measures like multi-factor identification have reduced the frequency of fraud and theft over time, bank account numbers are still at risk of being stolen and used for nefarious purposes if account holders aren’t careful enough to practice safe online banking. Today, nearly every financial transaction an individual makes is attached to a bank account number in one way or another. While social security numbers are still in use, unique checking account numbers are now used for banking purposes. As a result, banks have gradually moved away from this practice. However, the frequency of their use made fraud and identity theft more common. In the past, social security numbers were used for this role. ![]() ![]() This way, financial institutions can securely provide access to the account for sending and receiving payments. A bank account number is a series of numbers (and sometimes letters) that’s designed to identify an individual bank account and its owner. ![]() I was able to get about 5x as many photos of it with my Tokina 10-17mm than my friend who was shooting a rectilinear lens.Īll of the lenses in the super wide category (rectilinear or fisheye) offer amazing depth of field, and relatively close focus abilities. This curious turtle hatchling enjoyed seeing his own reflection in the dome port. The Tokina fired every time I pulled the shutter.Įven small turtle hatchlings can be photographed with a super wide fisheye lens. He had frame after frame at point blank, but the camera only locked focus and shot every few tries. After a few minutes, my buddy asked if he could share my system, and set his down in the shallows. We took turns shooting, because the turtle liked both domes equally (and nice photographers share their subjects). He literally kept bumping the dome trying to get closer. We found ourselves with a turtle hatchling during a snorkel, that was fascinated by its reflection in the dome. He bought the Canon 12-24mm rectilinear, and I got the Tokina 10-17mm fisheye. My buddy and I bought the same Canon DSLR- identical systems, strobes, etc., with only one difference. The optical laws of refraction and dome size are a bit dry, so instead I'll share a true story. A fisheye lens tends to have a closer minimum focus distance and better depth of field behind a dome port. And hands-down fisheye lenses work better behind dome ports than rectilinear lenses. Clarity and Close Focus DistanceĪ dome port is necessary to capture a super wide field of view without vignetting (dark shadows around the edges of the photo). The Tokina 10-17mm fisheye is capable of focusing on something only a few inches from the front of the lens. Minimum focus distance becomes a big issue when your subject is taking a nose dive into your dome port. If it is one of my images, you can be pretty sure it was shot with a fisheye. ![]() The "distortion" of the fisheye is in more of the underwater images you see published than you might expect. There are few parallel or perpendicular lines in nature. But the fisheye can make your subject (especially familiar ones you've seen often) look less "natural." The stretch of the gown and surrounding scene can be quite nice. There are wedding photographers using fisheyes. They are always careful to make sure the bride and groom's faces are near the center of the frame, where the distortion isn't noticeable. This is valid, but more complex than it might seem. So many people will then opt for the rectilinear lens. ![]() The distortion of a fisheye lens makes the counters, the ceiling, and every straight line look bizarre, even unpleasant. Considering that the focal length is the same, the difference visually is staggering. Many a photographer has gone to the camera store and tried a super wide rectilinear lens, then compared it to a similar focal length fisheye. Let's start with the negatives of fisheye lenses. This image is a composite of two split shots. The distortion caused by a fisheye can be used to creative advantage even when shooting models. I've shot lots of rectilinear lenses as well, so I will try to explain why I choose to use fisheyes exclusively. My preferred lenses are the Tokina 10-17mm Fisheye and an 8-15mm Fisheye (Canon or Nikon). My preferred setup underwater includes a super-wide lens. Lenses, housings, cameras, and lights are just tools for different jobs. ![]() Every stage you’re waiting to see what’s next. Each level has a new “creature" as well, like mechanical fish and creepy leering foxes. It looks even better on an iPad, and you can even see some crazy nuances like rust and grime in select environments. ![]() While I’m personally a fan of the quirky original style, I also heartily enjoyed the new HD sheen, as the attention to detail is pretty insane in Feed Me Oil 2. The old cartoon-esque veneer of the first game is completely gone, and is instead replaced with updated sleek visuals. Updates with trickier solutions and more tools would really go a long way here. In that sense, it’s not really challenging, but it’s relaxing nonetheless. There is a typical “three star" rating system to encourage you to get better at the game, but any puzzle fan should be able to coast there way through the game regardless without too much effort. Even a moderate amount of trial and error will get you through nearly every stage (of which there are 60), and you shouldn’t feel “stuck" at pretty much any point through the campaign. The good and bad news regarding Feed Me Oil 2 is that it’s not all that difficult. It’s an extremely useful design choice that lets you get back into the fray in seconds flat without getting bored. There’s no lengthy “you failed" screen - no hesitation in-between setups - you just touch and go. Should anything go wrong (and I mean anything, no matter how menial) after the oil starts flowing, you just tap anywhere on the screen to cancel that “round" so to speak. Once everything is set, you just hit the oil source and let it rip. If you want to put a specific piece in any area you wish, that’s all you need to do, without any sort of fuss involved. The touch based controls work perfectly, as all you have to do to select and place a tool is touch it, slide it in place, and slide to rotate it - that’s it. You’ll use objects as basic as lines and as advanced as wind power to achieve each task, and each time, exact placement matters. ![]() Not a whole lot has changed since the original Feed Me Oil ($1.99), but the sequel is fun enough to warrant another purchase from fans.Īs a combination of The Incredible Machine and various water puzzle games, your task is to set up a number of gadgets and fill a certain “goal" area with oil. Feed Me Oil 2 ($0.99) is basically the same premise, but it just changes out water for a darker, less healthy substance. Nearly all of them have the same premise, but more often than not, trying to wrangle up some H20 is undeniably enjoyable. Water based puzzle games are a slippery lot. ![]() But its eye-catching interface needs some operational improvements, and a few configurable settings and other common options would help, too. Click this and this should show some little icons including the battery. We did try Battery Meter on a desktop, too it worked, showing a full charge on AC power, but didn't display estimated times.īattery Meter seems to do a good job estimating battery duration and charge time, which is the most important thing. On the lower taskbar and to the far right, you should see a little up arrow. Double-clicking the program merely closed it. There also seems to be no way to keep the expanded main view open it closes as soon as you click your mouse on the desktop or another window. Clicking a button labeled More opened the program's Web site, but we could find nothing else in the way of settings or properties we also looked for evidence of an alarm or other audible indicator of low battery power, but there didn't seem to be any, and running our laptop's batteries down to critical level to see if there might be some sort of alarm wasn't on the agenda. At the bottom is an interesting map displaying charge and discharge times graphically at a glance. We opened Battery Meter's interface, a colorful green-on-black dialog with time counters for estimated total battery time and time from current state for both charging and discharging our batteries as well as total charge and accuracy in percentages. Most of the time, Battery Meter resembles nearly every other laptop battery display, with an icon shaped like an actual battery with a color-coded graphical display of remaining charge Battery Meter showed ours in blue for a full charge and even said "full" for good measure. We all enjoy surprises, but not when it comes to computers, so we selected the installer's option to run Battery Meter at start-up so we wouldn't forget to open it. It's a free tool that estimates how long you can run your PC on its remaining battery power as well as how long your batteries will take to recharge. ![]() If you rely on your laptop-and its batteries-it's worth taking a look at battery monitors, such as Battery Meter 1.0 from Mioplanet. Most laptops spend most of the time tethered to AC power, but folks who use their laptops on the go have to keep one eye on the battery level. ![]() It also stung my gums and despite all that it didn't even make my teeth very white. The toothpaste didn't make my mouth feel fresh and didn't help make my breath smell good when I was done brushing. There was NO classic Colgate flavor but instead just an awful soapy taste. I assumed there would be a slight difference in taste and perhaps feel because of the baking soda and peroxide but I definitely wasn't expecting what I got. ![]() ![]() I accidentally picked this up one time instead of the regular Colgate. I can't understand how anyone would like or use the Colgate with baking soda and peroxide toothpaste. So, would I recommend this toothpaste? Only if your looking for a good price toothpaste, that's does the basics (fresh breath, basic clean), and you don't care what it tastes like. I believe I have used more all natural brands like toms toothpaste and have noticed a difference. However, I have not seen any whitening affects from this toothpaste and that was one of the key reasons why I bought this. One good side of it, is that it keeps your breath smelling like mint for a good amount of time. I'm not sure how to describe it, buts it's bland and pasty with an after affect taste of mint. My husband especially does not like taste of it. However, my husband and I will be thankful when it's all gone. I bought it because it was the least expensive toothpaste that had "whitening" to it (It was two for the price of one at a local store). I have been using the Colgate Baking Soda and Peroxide Whitening Brisk Mint Toothpaste probably for about six months. It will make it SO much easier to deal with until it goes away. The salt water doesn't burn at all, it actually is very soothing. Don't swallow the water and don't rinse with anything else once you're finished. Do the rinse at least 2 to 3 times a day, preferably after meals. Swish the salt water in your mouth for at least 30 seconds and repeat until the water is gone. So I highly recommend chewing gum and doing a salt water rinse of 1/2 to 3/4 tsp salt in about 1 cup of warm water through the healing process. Although as soon as you stop chewing it, the discomfort gradually comes back. A little tip for anyone with the same problems from this toothpaste, chewing sugarfree gum pretty much takes away all discomfort as long as its not overly minty or cinnamon flavored. Broke or not, I'm going Colgate Total always. I'm actually relieved that it was just the toothpaste, because when you search the symptoms on the internet all kinds of horrible things pop up, however I will NEVER purchase this toothpaste again. I am now on day 4 and have very little gum discomfort and my tongue doesn't burn anymore but I can still see the red dots, although they are lightening up and fading. After the third day, my gums didn't bother me as much either. The white coating was starting to come back along the edges of my tongue too. I noticed a white patch on my gums under the back side of my front teeth and figured it was healing from the irritation, but not sure. The second day after I stopped using it, there was a noticeable change in the pain in my tongue and I could see the red dots starting to ease up. I stopped using it and went back to Colgate Total. Honestly I guess it should have been the first thing I thought of, but toothpaste is one of those things that you would never think wasn't safe. It took me a week and a half to figure out it was the toothpaste. I remembered a few years ago when I used baking soda and water paste as an exfoliant for my face and had similar problems. I found this site and realized there were other people with the same problems and came to the conclusion that the baking soda was way too abrasive for my mouth. Once the gum irritation started, I started thinking that maybe the toothpaste wasn't cleaning the gum line well enough which may have caused gingivitis problems which in turn irritated my tongue. There were little red dots and redness all along the outer edges of my tongue and you could see the redness/swelling along my gum line. I blamed it on everything from smoking, to clenching my jaw and biting my tongue, to possibly not cleaning my travel coffee cup well enough. Following that was gum swelling/irritation and a slight chapped feeling on the outside of my bottom lip. I got a couple of swollen taste buds and then the tip of my tongue started burning. Within days of starting this toothpaste, the sides of my tongue started burning all the time. I was recently tight on money and the Colgate with Baking Soda and Peroxide was cheaper, so I figured I would use it for a while. I had used this product in the past, but not long because my teeth never felt as clean as with my regular brand (Colgate Total) and it didn't do anything as far as whitening.
